If you are looking to home a cat or a kitten please consider such things as: overall costs including the cost of neutering/spaying, vaccinations, microchipping, fleaing and worming. Also, please consider your location. Are you on a busy road or a straight road where traffic speeds can be high? If so, you may find that the Rescue will not rehome a cat to you or will ask you to consider a more suitable cat such as an older one and/or an indoor cat. If you intend to adopt a kitten please note they need to be fed several times throughout the day. They also require a great deal of attention particularly with regard to playing.
Nelar carries out home visits to those who satisfy the rehoming criteria. We do not let kittens go to homes where there are children under the age of 5yrs or to a home where the kitten will be left alone for long periods of time.
The cost of caring for cats and kittens whilst in the Rescue has risen steeply. Nelar has been able to absorb these costs over the years. Unfortunately, this cannot be maintained and we have had to take the uncomfortable decision to raise the adoption fee for both adults and kittens. From the 1st October the adoption fee for an adult cat will be £80 and for a kitten £100.
